Gooka Botanical Gardens in Karen is a community-driven initiative focused on establishing a living collection of indigenous and culturally important plants for conservation, education, research and demonstration.

The gardens were started in 2022 by volunteer students from different universities together with Eng. Nduati, with the aim of creating a practical space where students, researchers, communities and plant enthusiasts can learn about indigenous plants and their conservation.

Today, the garden occupies approximately ¼ acre and hosts more than 50 plant species, creating a growing living collection of indigenous plants.

Gooka Botanical Gardens serves as APRCC's learning and demonstration site, providing a space to study indigenous plants, demonstrate their use in cultivated landscapes, support conservation and share practical knowledge about plant propagation and management.
