Olkeri Botanicals

Olkeri Botanicals, located in Ngong near Matasia, is a living conservation and planting site where APRCC works to conserve and establish rare and indigenous tree species.

Together with Dr. Njau Gitau, we have been introducing and growing rare trees at the garden, including African Blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon) and Giant Yellow Mulberry (Myrianthus holstii).

The site provides a practical space for conservation, propagation and learning, while demonstrating how rare indigenous trees can be established and maintained in cultivated landscapes.

Through Olkeri Botanicals, APRCC continues to expand living collections of indigenous and less commonly cultivated species and contribute to their conservation outside their natural habitats.
